What is Nitrofurantoin?
Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic used to treat bladder infections. Effective for kidney infections. It is taken orally. Common side effects include nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea and headaches. Rarely numbness, lung problems, or liver problems may occur. It should not be used for people with kidney problems.
Nitrofurantoin has been used to treat urinary tract infections since 1953. Currently, its uses include the treatment of people
prone to UTI, the treatment of simple UTI and the prevention of UTI. It is used to treat infections caused by these organisms.
